Star couples from Kimye (Kim Kardashian and Kanye West) to Zigi (Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik, who are expecting their first baby) would’ve waltzed up the red-carpeted steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art this evening.

Although the Vogue event will be held virtually this year, Streets Talkin waltzed down memory lane to pay homage to our 12 favorite glam shots in years past. While Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez got cheeky for the 2015 Costume Institute Gala titled “China: Through the Looking Glass,” Jared Leto turned heads when he held up a sculpture of his severed head for last year’s “Celebrating Camp: Notes on Fashion.”

All eyes were on West’s piercing blue contacts and Kardashian’s bleached blonde eyebrows during 2016’s “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.” At the same gala, Malik suited up as Hadid’s knight in shining armor with his bionic arms to complement her silver sequined dress that resembled an antique breastplate for their first joint red carpet appearance.

Rihanna makes our list twice for her golden yellow fur-trimmed cape dress designed by Chinese designer Guo Pei to fit the culturally-inspired theme in 2015 and for her Pope-inspired papal mitre and jewel and pearl-encrusted mini dress and matching robe in 2018 for “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination.”
