Tory Lanez takes on the “5 Fingers Death.” Before unleashing his sophomore album Memories Don’t Die, Swavey delivers a 9-minute freestyle for “Sway in the Morning.”
The punchline-heavy session includes Tory’s wide-ranging bars about women, money, and the streets over instrumentals like Cam’ron’s “Welcome to New York City” and “Down and Out,” Jadakiss’ “Still Feel Me,” Puff Daddy’s “It’s All About the Benjamins,” and 50 Cent’s “Problem Child.”
“My momma died, I lost my mind and couldn’t cope with it,” he raps. “And ni**as kept on pokin’ at my open shit / So I sold dope and moved hoes and made hope it / And got busy with any ni**a that made joke it.”
Elsewhere, Tory promoted his upcoming album (“My album ’bout to drop, ni**a / I’m about to pop, ni**a”), while egging Bow Wow on about his baby’s mother (“I want Bow Wow’s baby mama / I keep it real, she look good, I’ll OK the drama”).
Afterwards, Tory boasted about the freestyle, which has once again drawn many comparisons to Cassidy. “I’m setting the tone for 2018,” he said. “Don’t come in here unless you got the bars ready. You don’t gotta go for nine minutes but you gotta bring that fire.”
Memories Don’t Die drops at midnight featuring 50 Cent, Future, Wiz Khalifa, Fabolous, and NAV.
