Though Teyana Taylor has expressed her dismay regarding the rollout of her sophomore album K.T.S.E., the project was well-received. On Wednesday, Taylor stopped by Hot 97 and spoke about some of her initial worries before the release of K.T.S.E.
“At first I didn't really know that it was going to be the five-album thing until we had our last meeting,” said Taylor. Though she was aware that she and Pusha were slated to drop around the same time, the five-album bombshell created by Kanye was a cause of concern for her. ”Once [Kanye] said his [album] and everybody else, I was a little nervous at first. I was like 'Y'all n—as is legends, I ain't trying to be up in the middle of all of that.'”
To make matters worse, Taylor explained to the Hot 97 morning crew that she didn't know she wouldn't release any singles or videos for her release. ”I didn’t know ahead of time that there wouldn’t be any singles or visuals,” she said. “But I knew that it was going to be the five-album thing, [Kanye] wanted [my album] to be last, you know, he wanted mine to be the biggest. That's the way they sauced it up. I was sold.”
In an interview with Big Boy's Neighborhood last week, Taylor explained how her album experienced several issues with sample clearances. Due to those hurdles, she vowed to release a newer version of the project. Days after the interview, she reneged on her promise but later said that she would include the newer songs in her upcoming music videos.
