Taylor Swift's 'The Man' Music Watch

Swift goes deep undercover as a corporate titan with rage issues in the pointed clip.

Swifties finally got a visual for the Lover fan-favorite track, “The Man.” And, oh man, is it something to behold. In the visually stunning clip that dropped on Thursday morning (Feb. 27), Taylor Swift is, quite literally, the man, as she undergoes an intense make-over to become a bearded, belligerent corporate titan whose rocket fuel is non-stop high-fives, fist-pounds, empty praise and rounds of shots with his amped-up bros.

Gender-flipped Taylor manspreads on a subway train while smoking a cigar, urinates “the man” on a wall, barks orders into a phone while partying on a yacht with a bevy of models and earns lustful looks from moms at a park for just showing up with his daughter. Oh, and of course he loses his temper at a women’s charity tennis tournament and marries a much, much younger woman 58 years later.

Swift — whose man voice in the video is provided by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson — unveiled the clip she helmed for her gender role-slamming anthem and hopped on YouTube an hour before the release to “mansplain” the clip and answer fan questions.

The superstar previously told Streets Talkin that “The Man” was inspired by “a bit of a damned-if-we-do, damned-if-we-don’t thing happening in music, and that’s why when I can, like, sit and talk and be like ‘Yeah, this sucks for me too,’ that feels good. When I go online and hear the stories of my fans talking about their experience in the working world, or even at school — the more we talk about it, the better off we’ll be. And I wanted to make it catchy for a reason — so that it would get stuck in people’s heads, [so] they would end up with a song about gender inequality stuck in their heads. And for me, that’s a good day.”
