Of late, DRAM has been radio silent in the music department. Now, after an almost two-year hiatus and rebranding as Shelley FKA DRAM, the gold-selling artist is looking to get a deeper glimpse inside the anatomy of his future woman on the new song “Exposure.”

Featuring production from Essancy and Julian Nixon, this slow groove shows Shelley’s readiness to make the lady in his life his forever and always. He realizes the purest way to do that is not by committing himself to loving her body alone but loving the warmest part of her soul. His yearning vocals and male sensitivity make for a modern classic of fine R&B.

A supporting video for “Exposure” arrived on its release day. The Christian Sutton-directed video can be watched above.

“Exposure” marks Shelley’s first official track since 2019’s “The Lay Down.” It featured H.E.R. and Watt and was packaged with a music video. He expressed in a late-night-inspired clip that his break was necessary to work on his “health, voice, and growth.” He also discussed the reason behind his new stage name, which comes from his birth name.

No word on a release date for a future Shelley FKA DRAM project. The yet-titled effort will serve as a follow-up to 2018’s That’s a Girls Name. His debut album Big Bady DRAM was issued in 2016.
