Sam Smith is gearing up to release their third album in the best way possible. After dropping an emotional lyric video for “To Die For” last month, Friday morning (March 13) saw the release of a gorgeous acoustic version of the single, which strips it all the way back to just a haunting piano and Smith’s high, clear voice.
The new take on the song amps up the longing in the lyrics, with Smith crooning about the love all around as their world is crashing down. Smith’s third studio album, To Die For, is due out on May 1 and the Stargate and Jimmy Napes-produced title track, released on Valentine’s Day, is the first taste of the anticipated project.
