One thing Raheem DeVaughn is going to do is release an album. On June 4, the self-proclaimed Love King will do just that when he puts out Lovesick via Mello Music Group.

Like last year’s What A Time To Be In Love, which was produced entirely by The Colleagues, the forthcoming album is another collaborative effort but has Detroit’s own Apollo Brown (Chance The Rapper, Freddie Gibbs) behind the boards.

All 12 songs on the Lovesick were produced by Brown, including the first offering “When a Man.” The heartfelt track finds DeVaughn describing in detail how smitten men should keep their deserving queens satisfied, from cooking hearty meals to putting down good loving.

Brown, whose production background is heavily rooted in hip-hop, said on Instagram that masterminding an R&B/soul album has been on his bucket list for quite some time.

“I wanted to put together a DELIBERATE sound that set a scene, moved the soul, and tugged the heartstrings, all at the same time; providing an abundance of FEELINGS,” wrote Brown on Instagram. “It was important for me to produce a cross-genre album that was not only enjoyed by the R&B crowd, but also resonated with MY HIP HOP FANS alike.”

DeVaughn recently celebrated the enduring legacy of the late Marvin Gaye in the video for his song “Marvin Used to Say.” He also promised to release an album in honor of him later this year.

In March, DeVaughn appeared on Reel People’s new song “Deja Vu.”
