After dropping three singles, Rae Sremmurd continues prepping for its upcoming triple album, SR3MM, which will be comprised a group LP and two solo projects.
Speaking the collection with Billboard, Swae Lee said it will be the duo’s greatest work thus far. “It’s the best music we’ve ever made,” he said. “Of course we’ve still got SremmLife 1 and 2 flavor, but we’re giving y’all shit y’all never heard from Rae Sremmurd before.”
The bulk the album will be produced by Mike WiLL Made-It and in-house beatmakers from EarDrummers. He wouldn’t reveal any names, but promised that the LP will have some “crazy features” and that it’s going to be a “big deal.”
Slim Jxmmi explained why the duo decided to make this a triple album. “We wanted to give y’all something different,” he said. “Because it’s one side saying, ‘Man, this person should go solo,’ so why don’t we just end the argument and give it to you, and then give you Rae Sremmurd so you can see why we are Rae Sremmurd and who we are as individuals.”
The SremmLife partners will be hitting the road with Childish Gambino in September, as part the actor-rapper’s North American tour. Swae said that the tour could lead to a joint project. “I got a laptop with about 1,000 bangers, I know Childish Gambino got about 2,000 or 3,000, who knows?” he said. “We’re gonna come together and make a whole project like, ‘Redbone’ and ‘Black Beatles.’”
Last month, the twosome dropped three new songs, including Swae Lee’s “Hurt to Look,” Jxm’s “Brxnks Truck,” and their joint single “Powerglide.” SR3MM is due next month.
