Luke James and Tristan ‘Mack’ Wilds to Star in Broadway Play ‘Thoughts of a Colored Man’

Luke James and Tristan “Mack” Wilds remain working actors. The two entertainers are on the call sheet this fall for the Broadway play Thoughts of a Colored Man, according to Deadline. It will mark both James and Wilds’ first Broadway roles.

Written by Keenan Scott II and directed by Steve H. Broadnax III, the play will follow the lives of seven Black men living in Brooklyn, in the course of one day, as they discuss issues that impact their community. Their Black perspectives will go deeper than societal norms, illustrating the many of the “human hopes, joys, sorrows, fears, and dreams of all men, all people” that go overlooked. 

Thoughts of a Colored Man also stars Dyllón Burnside, Bryan Terrell Clark, Da’Vinchi, Forrest McClendon, and Keith David. 

Housed at the Golden Theatre, previews will begin on Friday, October 1, with opening night kicking off on Sunday, October 31. Tickets for the show will be available on Monday, June 18, and can be purchased here.  

Aside from landing his inaugural Broadway role, James has been stacking on the jobs, from starring in Showtime’s The Chi to National Geographic’s Genius: Aretha. He also is a part of Hold Still, Vincent, a podcast about the 1982 murder of Vincent Chin. 

James’ last album, To Feel Love/d last year not only received a Grammy nomination but a coveted spot on Rated R&B’s best R&B albums of 2020 list. 

As for Wilds, he teamed up with Salaam Remi in 2020 for “Home Vacation,” lifted from Remi’s album Black On Purpose.
