Ignition Records has announced a major rarities collection chronicling the career of punk legend Joe Strummer – not including his work with The Clash – entitled Joe Strummer 001, and due out on September 28.
The compilation will feature fan-favorite songs from Strummer's solo career, as well as his other groups the 101ers, The Mescaleros, soundtrack work and an album of previously unreleased material. The archiving of this material and compiling of Joe Strummer 001 was overseen by Joe’s widow Luce and Robert Gordon McHarg III.
Formats for the collection include limited edition deluxe box set, limited edition deluxe double CD, double CD in slipcase, quadruple heavyweight vinyl in slipcase, and digital download.
Additionally, a limited edition box set is available that includes all of the above, plus the unreleased single “This is England,” the demo “Before We Go Forward,” and the cassette U.S. North Basement Demo. The box set's accompanying book (also included in the deluxe CD) will feature rarely seen and previously unpublished memorabilia from Joe’s personal collection, as well as historical press reviews and technical notes about the albums.
All formats of the collections include newly restored and remastered works from Grammy award winner Peter J. Moore.
