Hot 100 Chart Moves: Demi Lovato Debuts, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj Add Their Fifth Shared Hit

Lovato launches with ‘Sober’ and as featured on Clean Bandit’s ‘Solo.’ Plus, Taylor Swift’s ‘Delicate’ hits the top 20.

As previously reported, Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin's “I Like It” lifts from No. 2 to No. 1 on the Streets Talkin Hot 100, making Cardi B the first female rapper with two No. 1s. She first reigned with her debut hit, “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves),” for three weeks in October 2017.

Latin music stars Bad Bunny and Balvin earn their first Hot 100 No. 1 each.

In even more Hot 100 chart moves:

“Delicate,” Taylor Swift
“Delicate” hits the Hot 100's top 20, jumping 27-20. It lifts 5-4 on the Radio Songs chart (93.3 million in audience, up 11 percent in the week ending July 1, according to Nielsen Music), becoming the highest-peaking track from her 2017 album reputation on the tally: lead single “Look What You Made Me Do” hit No. 5 on Radio Songs.

On the Hot 100,” Delicate” is Swift's 41st top 20 hit. Here's a look at the acts with the most, dating to the chart's Aug. 4, 1958, inception:

Most Top 20 Hot 100 Hits
48, Elvis Presley
46, Drake
44, Lil Wayne
44, Madonna
42, The Beatles
42, Rihanna
41, Taylor Swift
40, Elton John

“Delicate” is the fifth top 20 Hot 100 hit from reputation. “Look” logged three weeks at No. 1, followed by “Ready for It?” (No. 4), “Gorgeous” (No. 13) and “End Game,” featuring Ed Sheeran and Future (No. 18).

“Sober,” Demi Lovato
“Solo,” Clean Bandit feat. Demi Lovato
Lovato debuts on the Hot 100 with two titles: her own “Sober,” at No. 58, the chart's top new entry, and as featured on Clean Bandit's “Solo” at No. 97. (Thus, “Solo” is not her solo song among the two.)

“Sober,” whose official video premiered June 26, starts at No. 3 on the Digital Song Sales chart with 29,000 downloads sold in the week ending June 28; Lovato earns her 10th top 10 on the ranking. The song also drew 7 million U.S. steams in the same tracking week.

“Solo” arrives powered most heavily by 6.7 million domestic clicks.

“The Light Is Coming,” Ariana Grande feat. Nicki Minaj
The song from Grande's album Sweetener, due Aug. 17, debuts at No. 95 on the Hot 100, fueled by 6.7 million U.S. streams in the tracking week.

Notably, the pair charts its fifth shared Hot 100 entry. Here's a recap:

No. 3 peak, 2014, “Bang Bang” (Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj)
No. 88, 2015, “Get on Your Knees” (Minaj feat. Grande)
No. 4, 2016, “Side to Side” (Grande feat. Minaj)
No. 43, 2018, “Bed” (Minaj feat. Grande) (the track falls to No. 67 in its second week)
No. 95 (to date), 2018, “The Light Is Coming” (Grande feat. Minaj)

Meanwhile, Minaj charts her 92nd Hot 100 entry, tying Kanye West for the sixth-best sum in the chart's archives. She also extends her mark for the most appearances among women, pushing further ahead of runner-up Taylor Swift:

Most Hot 100 Appearances
207, Glee Cast
164, Drake
138, Lil Wayne
108, Elvis Presley
97, JAY-Z
92, Nicki Minaj
92, Kanye West
91, James Brown
90, Chris Brown
77, Taylor Swift
75, Ray Charles
73, Aretha Franklin
71, The Beatles

Additionally regarding Minaj's bow this week, here's chart-watcher Pablo Nelson of Oakland, Calif.:

“With Nicki Minaj's newest Hot 100 hit, she is now the solo artist with the most Hot 100 visits without a No. 1. James Brown previously held this distinction, with 91, his highest peak occurring with his classic 'I Got You (I Feel Good),' a No. 3 hit in 1965. Minaj has reached a No. 2 high so far, with 'Anaconda' in 2014. (The Glee Cast leads all acts in the category.)

“And soon, Minaj will most likely be the first female soloist with over 100 Hot 100 entries. I realize that Taylor Swift continues to do well, and I'm glad that 'Delicate' has become a solid hit, but Minaj is likely headed for a strong rollout with her forthcoming, aptly-titled album Queen.”
