Kristin Chenoweth opened up about her friendship with Ariana Grande on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday (Nov. 6).

During the sit-down, Chenoweth told host Seth Meyers the story of how she met the superstar years ago, when Grande's grandmother brought the then-10-year-old backstage at Wicked to sing for her. Blown away by young Ari's pipes, the Broadway star dished on the advice she gave the aspiring singer.

"So I had these little wands," Chenoweth said. "I gave her a wand and I said, 'Just remember to follow your passion. Do what you love.' And we stayed close and skip to: she's the biggest star on the planet."

Just a few years after meeting the Broadway legend, Grande scored her own big break on the Great White Way. In 2008, the budding star made her Broadway debut in Jason Robert Brown's short-lived teen musical 13 and the rest, as they say, is history.

Most recently, Grande collaborated with Chenoweth on the latter's new album For The Girls, reimagining Lesley Gore's 1963 feminist anthem "You Don't Own Me" as a duet.
