After teasing the arrival the Kaytranada- and MF Doom-produced Elevators: Act I & II project late last year, Bishop Nehru has given the effort a proper release date.
The 10-track LP will arrive independently on March 16. It marks Nehru and DOOM’s second collaboration, following the 2014 collaborative LP NehrunDOOM.
The album also arrives alongside a claymation trailer, created by Raphael Truffi Bortholuzzi Grandmondo Miniatures. While figures the rapper and Kaytranada are pieced together for a hotel lobby scene, Nehru provides some narration on the album’s inspiration. You can find it in the player below.
“This project is a collection my feelings straight from my heart, all my ideas were created specifically f instinct and intuitive occurrences,” Nehru said in a statement. “This album is my answer to the question, ‘What would you say your music sound like?’ My answer to that would be ‘Grammy Rap.’ There’s ‘Mumble Rap’ and then there’s ‘Grammy Rap.’ With this project I was largely influenced by music theory and Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys. This is my attempt at a ‘rap’ Pet Sounds.”
Nehru is also bringing the album to fans in London, Toronto, New York and Los Angeles for a pizza party listening session tour, which will include pop-up performances in secret locations. You can find further details here.
