?IKEA Is Releasing Its Very Own Record Player

IKEA has long covered all your party-throwing needs with home dcor, cookware, drinkware, strange Swedish beverages and affordable, easily replaceable furniture (in case things get too out hand) but the retail giant is taking your entertaining abilities to the next level with its latest line.

The FREKVENS collection is a collaboration with Teenage Engineering, and it includes a record player, electronic choir (whatever that is) and party lighting.

It’s a partnership that makes sense, given that Teenage Engineering specializes in designing electronic instruments and speakers.

The motivating concept behind the collection is spontaneity giving consumers the ability to throw a fully realized party anytime and anywhere.

“The idea gathering some friends could become a reality in minutes,” creative leader Michael Nikolic said in a statement. “What is then needed at home? Or maybe you want to bring along the party somewhere else? Together with Teenage Engineering we want to explore the possibilities bringing the party with you and what else you need for a great party.”

The FREKVENS collection is expected to hit stores globally by February 2019. There’s no word yet on how much soul-destroying home assembly will be required.
