Two years removed from his King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude LP, Pusha-T has finally delivered new full-length DAYTONA, and you can hear the entire thing below.
DAYTONA runs seven tracks in length and features appearances from Rick Ross and Kanye West, the latter appearing on a track titled “What Would Meek Do?” Pusha revealed the album’s imminent release date earlier this week after Kanye teased it earlier this year.
As previously reported, the album’s artwork features an image Whitney Houston’s bathroom during the artist’s battle with addiction, with drug paraphernalia littered about the countertop. Pusha revealed that Kanye called him to suggest using the image after “he wasn’t feeling” the LP’s original art, fering to pay the licensing fee $85,000.
As Pusha told Exclaim! back in early 2016, the follow-up LP was slated to be titled King Push, though he explained the name change in a Twitter thread.
“I changed the album title from ‘King Push’ to ‘DAYTONA’ because I felt it didn’t represent the overall message this body work,” he explained on Twitter this week. “‘DAYTONA’ represents the fact that I have the luxury time. That luxury only comes when u have a skill set that your sic] confident in.”
Pusha-T had previously teased the arrival a new LP with singles “Drug Dealers Anonymous,” “Circles” and “H.G.T.V.” The album also signals the return a hyphen to Pusha-T’s name, which he previously used as a member Clipse.
