Georgia District Attorney Says R. Kelly Not Under Investigation [VIDEO]

Despite calls from Georgia legislators to investigate R. Kelly, Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard has announced his fice is not currently investigating the R&B singer, reports Atlanta’s FOX 5.

As you may know, R. Kelly has been under scrutiny ever since the Buzzfeed report came out chronicling accusations that he’s holding a number women against their will at his mansion in Fulton County. According to Jim DeRogatis’ investigative piece, parents the alleged victims filed reports with the police and FBI, claiming the singer was running an “abusive cult” that was “tearing families apart.”

Since then, R. Kelly has denied any wrongdoing and called the allegations “a bunch crap.”

Fulton County commission chairman John Eaves, who is currently running for mayor Atlanta, called a press conference on Friday (Aug. 11) demanding an investigation into the situation.

“No one should be above the law, because their income or their zip code,” he said. “And we will not allow our young girls and young women to be preyed upon by predators or anyone who aims to brainwash and strip them their human dignity and their right to be free.”

Shortly after Eaves press conference, D.A. Howard revealed that no criminal investigation into Kelly’s actions is being conducted at this time, but he will “examine the R. Kelly file to determine next steps.”

Previously, the Fulton Co. Board Commissioners unanimously voted to approve a letter to Live Nation requesting that his upcoming Aug. 25 concert in Atlanta be canceled.

Reps for R. Kelly had no comment on the matter.
